     Like the quote on the first page of the syllabus for this class says, "I don't know what art is but I know what I like."  I can totally relate.  I'm not very artistic and can barely draw a stick figure.  Ironically my mother is an interior designer and my father is a resedential home builder here on Staten Island.  My parents both have an eye for design, as well as my younger brother who is really into photography.  I however was somehow forgotten and have no artistic qualities in my genes.  Most of my clothes are plain black, one of my favorite colors.

     I suppose art can be anything really.  It's paintings, fashion, music, or anything that you can find beauty in.  I guess art is different for everyone and everyone has a different taste.  I enjoy fashion and I am also a big fan of tattoos.  I find fashion to be beautiful and it makes me feel better about myself.  People shop and buy clothes that they hope to make themselves look beautiful in.  I have several tattoos and I am absolutely fascinated by them.  If I didnt have to look good in my wedding dress and if my parents wouldnt skin them off of me, I would probably be covered.  Kat Von D is a famous female tattoo artist and I absolutely love her work.  Kat Von D is completely covered in tattoos and I think that tattoos are beautiful.  You must be a truly talented artist to place artwork on somebodys body that is permanent. 

     Another artist that I am a fan of who isnt a tattoo artist is right here on Staten Island. I saw him on September 11th at the Staten Island memorial.  He painted in front of everyone while the song Coldplay "Fix you" was playing and it was a very moving.  His name is Scot Lobaido.  Here is a link to one of Scot's paintings.  He is actually painting while the song Free Bird by Lynard Skynard is playing in the backround.  That happens to be my favorite song and I have the lyrics tattooed on me.  So this would be an example of art to me, I find the beauty in the music and the painting.
